Pet Guide
- Mara is a rare pet that is often debated by players due to its resemblance to a hero.
- It manipulates Charm Magic, but more importantly, it increases Control effects by 200%.
- It’s a rare pet that can extend magic defense.
Mara Strengths and Team Building Theory
- Mara’s extension of control effects is powerful, with a 100% extension doubling the duration and a 200% extension tripling it.
- Arachne, Lian, Isaac, Thea, Judge, Lilith, Lars (twins brother), and Fafnir are especially good for this team.
- Arachne and Lian can be active without much training, but that is because Mara is strong. The less powerful Arachne can also play an active role if she is supported by a well-trained Mara.
- Training Mara is a prerequisite for training Arachne and Lian. For this reason, it is not advisable to start training these Control Heroes while training Axel and Khorus, as Mara upgrade is incompatible with upgrade other pets.
- If the opponent is using Khorus to counter the debuff, Lilith or Orion will do the job of the debuff that was left out by the probability.
- The debuff enhancement is so strong that it can make a Hero with only enhanced skills ready for battle, and it can also help you fight well when you don’t have enough Heroes to train in CoW. Mara is one of the reasons why players who prioritize pet buffs over hero buffs are more successful.
- It boosts the magic defense of heroes, potentially countering heroes like Amira.
- This pet is essential against a control team that stuns the opponent to death. In this case, you will most likely be patronizing Arachne.
- Works effectively with Polaris, but often supports other control heroes better than patronizing Polaris directly.
- Can create a one-sided game when used effectively in certain team setups.
- Due to its function, it’s not advisable to augment it with left-side equipment. So don’t use Gift of the Sanctuary on Mara.
Disadvantages of Mara
- First and Second skills have no utility.
- The first skill, Magic Damage, increases damage when the opponent is under a control effect, but the base damage is low. Especially if the opponent is using magic defense buffs, there is insufficient penetration and little damage is done.
- The second skill Mind Control the opponent’s first Hero, but the opponent’s first Hero is the target of normal attacks from five allies. Therefore, the effect does not last long. Of course, she is also subject to debuff cuts.
- When grouped together, they deal a small amount of magic damage. This gives the opposing Isaac a large amount of gauge. Not only is it not useful, it is sometimes better off without it. For this reason, it is not a good choice for team pets in a defensive team.
- Heroes like K’arkh Ishmael and Faceless are compatible with Mara’s Patron, but in many cases it is better to use other pets.
- Even for heroes that are compatible with Mara, Mara is not always the right choice. In some cases, even Arachne is better with Albus’ Patron.
- Many heroes rely heavily on physical attacks, rendering enhancements for magical attacks meaningless. As a result, patrons with weak synergy emerge due to the insignificance of stat enhancements. Such patrons are prone to losing patterns and lack versatility.
- Not all control heroes can be patronized, and Jorgen and Phobos are not eligible.
- Although it can extend debuffs, it does not cover all debuffs, only the most common ones, such as Stun, Slow, Silence, and Charm. Therefore, it will not work on hero-specific debuffs, such as Jorgens’.
- The extended debuff effect is only useful at around 100%. It is therefore pointless to add an underdeveloped Mara to a team to increase the debuff effect.
- Control is of critical value in certain conditions where it makes sense, but it is less versatile than pets like Axel and Biscuit. For this reason, it is difficult to decide when to start training it, since it will not show its usefulness until you continue training it.
- Mara, symbolizing control, does not show much value in proper team composition and tends to mass produce losing patterns. Compared to Kane and Albus, which support the Power Push, Mara is a relatively player-selective pet.

Regarding Polaris: Mara will increase her Violet skills True Freeze ability, that stuns and prevents energy gain, from 3 to 9 seconds. And its even more effective that during that Freeze, the enemy receives +140% magic dmg. So i consider Mara on Polaris a massive bonus … unless i am missing sth
It’s certainly great, I’m more likely to use Khorus for Polaris at the moment.
I recognize that it is hard to give a degree of superiority or inferiority.
