[Hero Wars Guide]Albus

Pet Guide

  • Albus is a white dragon that breathes damaging energy.
  • It’s often the best solution for high-health bosses, especially in guild raids against Osh.
  • Albus is crucial in the current meta because of its synergy with Pure damage teams.

Albus Strengths and Team Building Theory

  • When upgraded to Purple, Albus can increase the pure damage of patroned Heroes by up to 175%. This is important because Pure damage bypasses Armor and Magic deffence, increasing the team’s overall damage output.
  • For pure damage dealers like Maya, Iris, and Heidi, the Purple Albus skill is critical. It’s especially important for Heidi, who relies on it with Nebula.
  • Pairing Albus with Sebastian greatly increases the damage of physical DPS heroes, which is crucial in guild raids. Jhu, Lara Croft, and Cornelius can deal massive damage in these scenarios.
  • Patronizing Albus on Corvus greatly improves his counter play against Yasmine, Keira, Kayla, and Heidi.
  • When using Aidan to counter Ishmael, Ishmael’s invincibility can cause problems if the team lacks pure damage. In such cases, Albus’ pure damage (Patron to Aidan) can be the key to breaking through.
  • If a team with Lian lacks sufficient damage, having Albus as Lian’s patron can increase frontline firepower and tilt the battle in your favor.
  • Against defensive teams with low physical damage, Albus on Rufus can provide just the right amount of firepower support.
  • Defending with Arachne often leads opponents to expect Mara to be the Patron. Using Albus instead can catch them off guard, especially when defending engineers and lighthouses in CoW.
  • When using Jhu in boss fights, Albus can sometimes be more effective as his patron, resulting in increased damage output.
  • Skills activated when Albus is a team pet have additional recharge time. By synchronizing Heidi’s and Maya’s skills with this timing during manual control, you can aim to improve your results in guild raids and events.
  • Against teams using Julius to counter Heidi, the combination of Team pet Albus adds damage that Julius cannot withstand, making it an effective counter strategy.
  • Against teams countering Corvus with Dorian, Team pet Albus can add damage that Dorian cannot handle, making it an effective counter. It is not a final solution, but should be considered as an option.

Disadvantages of Albus

  • The main benefit of patronizing Albus is his purple skill, while the stat boosts add little. As a result, the training process can result in losses until the pet is fully upgraded, making it harder to develop than others.
  • Albus provides physical and magical attack stats when patronized, but one of these stats will always be irrelevant to the hero, resulting in a disadvantage in overall effective stats.
  • Unlike most pets that provide defensive buffs, Albus focuses entirely on offense, leaving heroes like Corvus, Maya, Sebastian, Iris, and Heidi more vulnerable in critical moments.
  • While Albus can patronize tanks, he doesn’t improve their defensive capabilities, making them more susceptible to being taken down. Aidan can sometimes mitigate this risk, but patronizing a tank with Albus is generally not recommended. In most cases, it is only an option for use.
  • Heroes like Galahad and Phobos can technically patron Albus, but the benefits are minimal, making them impractical choices.
  • Many physical DPS heroes who can patron Albus often rely on Fenris for armor penetration, which may take priority over Albus.
  • Few Heroes excel at Pure damage, so Albus’ effectiveness can vary greatly depending on the Heroes he supports.
  • Albus’ first skill is most effective when timed with a Hero’s pure damage attack, making it difficult to use compared to pets that can be activated at any time. In automatic mode, the timing may not coincide with the Hero’s attack, reducing its effectiveness.
  • There’s no way to disable Albus’s Charge skill, and learning it reduces the frequency of the first skill, which can change the optimal use of Albus as a team pet.
  • Although Albus is an important pet in the current meta,  its early-game weaknesses, lack of defensive utility, and reliance on manual control, making it more challenging for players.
