Official Community Manager FAQ
Titles are tailored to the content.
1. Too Many QA Responses Seem Like Random Doodles
- Q. How about having some guts to reply to EACH of the starboard messages PROPERLY first which is YOUR JOB?
We good? - A. My job isn’t limited to just that. Starboard is actually a voluntary initiative aimed at ensuring the principles of transparency and clarity in feedback sharing. However, quite often people start to abuse it, turning it into nothing more than a wall for “angry graffiti.”
2. Criticism of the “We Improved Communication” Claim
- Q. With all due respect, I disagree.
– weekly and monthly event calendars often with missing events or incorrect dates. I haven’t kept count, but I’m safe if I say at least 12 times in the last year, more than one per month.
– detailed guides and FAQs with the most important information missing (Relic rank up costs, random draw probability, how matchmaking systems work). You have every right and good reason not to reveal the most sensitive details, but if you decide not to then don’t call the information given “detailed”.
– support portal articles with incorrect information that has never been corrected (“it will be possible to obtain Artifact Weapons for Turtles only during the event”). Timer of missing hours until the start of the Lara Croft event that keeps resetting and restarting for a year. Not to mention the links that lead to non-existent pages.
– developer interviews with intentionally misleading information, like the one on Titan ToP… oh no, sorry, there was an emoji… then everything is fine.
– unreplied Starboard messages every week (including this one).
– there is a bug on Hero ToP that is preventing some players from earning points. For some players it has been fixed, for others it has not. For two days Support has denied the existence (blaming reset of the Gift of Elements or lack of game update) and closed the tickets. After 3 days of insistence, they finally have not solved the problem, but at least admitted its existence. I understand that this thing has nothing to do with CM, but Support is also part of the relationship with your customers/players, and it is terrible.
– I still remember Daniel’s video to celebrate the beginning of 2025 saying that the first iteration of Area of Conquest had some “small problems”. I still feel fooled by that sentence after 6 months.
If you think this is a significant improvement, good for you. In my opinion, it is not. - A. Your feedback and criticism are valid and have been taken into accountю. As I’ve mentioned before, mistakes happen, and we’ll do our best to improve and avoid them in the future. The thing is, any answer I give you now is unlikely to be satisfying. So I’ll be placing my hopes not in words, but in the idea that our collective efforts, together with the developers, and the concrete actions we take will have a positive impact on the future development of the game and its community.
3. Support Improvements Should Be Shown Through Actions
- Q. In any kind of business in the service industry (Nexter is in the gaming industry giving gaming service to customers), customers (aka players) have certain expectations.
The most basic one is to get a competent and prompt customer service support.
But look at your own game? What kind of customer service support do you have? (if you have some shame, i’m so ashamed of your own incompetence)
Every time we ask for a fix, we contact support for explanation and solution.
Replies will always be:
1. All aspects of the game is controlled by the developers. Please send your feedback to this link ( link given ), our developer is always keen to hear feedback ( which is a lie, that link is a one way traffic, will never get anything done).
2. If there is any change implemented, you will see it in the game (another way of saying, just F*off and continue playing and spending in the game, we have no timeline on the fix and have no interest in entertaining you further).
3. Incompetent developer unable to fix very basic bugs for weeks or months. And so many bugs just passed and next events keep coming and repeating.
————-
Then customer goes to another channel (aka discord) hoping to get help and proper feedback channel.
What do we get here? You all can judge yourself.
3. Community manager is very incompetent and inactive. So many starboard messages are not replied properly. Very poor communication and there is really no responsibility check here.
4. Instead of introspecting on the way he communicates and questioning his company’s developer’s poor capability of fixing bugs/issues, he said openly that starboard is often just a place to rant our anger. In other words, all messages there are not genuine constructive feedback, but just out of anger. (Hence maybe don’t need to reply one by one, or reply very slowly).
What do you expect from this game?
We love this game, blame it on ourselves.
Until today, my total hero power doesn’t increase - A. It’s clear that I didn’t express myself clearly enough. Sorry about that. What I meant was that first and foremost, Starboard is a very important channel for us – it’s a key way for feedback to be exchanged. Every message (and I want to emphasize this EVERY message) in this channel is processed and passed on to the developers.
Sometimes, during big and hype-driven announcements, many emotional and repetitive comments end up here. That’s just how it goes.
I also want to stress that not every message here requires a response, although I try to reply when I have something meaningful to say, so it doesn’t come off as an empty “noted.” As you’ve expressed frustration before when, in your view, a CM simply said “we passed this on to the developers” and then nothing happened.
Unfortunately, not every suggestion or idea from Starboard can be implemented right away. Some require more time for development and integration. Sometimes, there just aren’t enough resources available at the moment, as the development pipeline prioritizes other, more urgent tasks.
Your frustration is understandable, but I hope my reply sheds at least some light on the situation.
4. ToP Compensation for Bugs Was Far Too Sloppy
- Q. To Hero Wars Development and Community Management Teams,
The Tournament of Power event’s bug remained unresolved for over four days.
This raises a critical and troubling question: Is this event truly intended for all players, or only for those fortunate enough not to be affected by this issue? If it is for all, allowing it to proceed while a certain segment of the player base is excluded is not only unfair, it’s outright negligent.
The only response was to hand out a mere 10 boxes to all players in affected servers. It is both insufficient and disheartening. Simply put, it is a lazy solution. Players already invested resources into the event. A one-size-fits-all 10 boxes is not only tone-deaf, it’s dismissive.
Further compounding this is the behavior of the community manager on Discord. I’m not highly active, but I follow updates closely. The absence of announcement of expected resolution time or providing ears to listen shows a lack of accountability and professionalism that is extremely concerning.
Let me also be clear: I am not a casual player. I have consistently supported the game financially by purchasing bundles and various seasons’ tickets and subscribing to the Mysterious Map subscription.
Unless there is immediate action to:
Provide the date of fix for the issue of players’ total hero power not going up,
Provide targeted compensation to those genuinely impacted,
And deliver honest, detailed communication from the community team,
Then this situation will accelerate the erosion of our faith in the game (at least mine).
This bug shows your lack of skills in your development team and inadequate activity from the community manager team.
This is not just a bug, it is a reflection of the standards and priorities behind your game.
If this issue just passed like this without further action from you, I suppose this is the nail in the coffin for me.
Sincerely,
A relatively new player who have been supporting your paycheck and feel totally ignored. - A. The issue might have been the following: there are two possible behaviors — one on regular servers and another on servers with League Arena enabled.
If you have recently reset the Gift of the Elements, it has caused your team’s overall Power to drop below its highest level. Once you exceed your previously achieved maximum Power, you will be able to get Tournament Points for upgrading your heroes.
Please note that the Power contributing to your event progress is based on the highest Power you have ever achieved. Resetting your Gift of the Elements and upgrading it again will not grant you additional Tournament Points.
and
If you haven’t reset the Gift of the Elements after the end of the previous Hero Tournament of Power, but still don’t receive Tournament Points for upgrading your heroes. This is exactly the case that occurred on servers with League Arena enabled that’s what caused the error. The affected players have been compensated. The issue has been fixed and will not happen again.
5. Artifact Quest Compensation Is Planned
- According to the information I just received from the developers, the season task ‘Spend 1200 Artifact Coins’, which did not autocomplete, will be removed from this season and will not appear again this season.
- Players who were unable to complete it due to the malfunctioning autocomplete will receive compensation in the form of season experience points next week.
6. For AoC Sync Issues, Please Reload Your Browser
- Q. AoC starts, and you’ve already got the next bug in the game! The castle level doesn’t match the reward level!
Why do you want to reinvent everything when you can’t even handle the already implemented gameplay?
It would be better to work on these things than to keep adding more bugs to the game! - A. Hi! Could you please tell us your game ID? This will help us check the issue you reported. Also, try restarting the game. The progress should update when the page refreshes.
7. Why Are New Features Prioritized Over Fixing Bugs?
- Q. Ok, but for real now CM. Why can’t the devs focus on fixing the existing features instead of inventing new things that nobody asked for?
We keep mentioning the problems with AoC, League Arena, CoW draws, etc. but I guess that feedback just lands on deaf ears - A. Let’s not forget the good things that bring joy to the players. Lyria’s Adventure was great — the developers put a lot of effort into it. Work to combat abusers is ongoing — Asgard has become noticeably fairer, and it’s now easier to get Augustus and Polaris. The game is evolving in various directions and aspects. Some successful features give the opportunity to “green light” others.
