Note on the New “Ascension Seasons”: The original Ascension Season was a resource-focused event similar to the Nature Season or Champion Season. Returning after several years, this new iteration of Ascension Seasons is instead a separate, Hero-focused feature designed to introduce new Ascension Skills and updates to their base abilities, operating independently from the standard major Seasons.
Overview & Initial Featured Hero
- Introduction of Ascension Seasons: Veteran Heroes who have fallen behind the current meta will be regularly revisited and upgraded (approx. once a month / 25 days per season).
- Seasonal Focus: Each season focuses on 1 Hero and introduces 2 new Ascension Skills, alongside updates to their base abilities if needed.
- Initial Featured Hero: Astrid and Lucas. They will receive 2 new Ascension Skills, updates to their base abilities, and will join the new Hunter group. The first season is scheduled to launch in the first half of September.
System Details & Participation Requirements
- Integration with Existing System: Ascension Seasons expand the existing Ascension system without replacing the Ascension Spire, Hero Ascension trees, branches, progression rules, or existing resources.
- Participation Requirements:
- Must own the featured Hero
- Team Level 65+
- Asgard unlocked
- Earning Season Points: Points are earned via Arena, Grand Arena, Dungeon, Guild War, Clash of Worlds (CoW), and Campaign. Both wins and losses grant points, while including the featured Hero in your lineup increases point gains.
- Battle Pass Structure: Features 50 levels. The main track can be completed without spending money, but requires consistent activity throughout the 25-day season.
Unlocking & Upgrading Seasonal Skills
- Initial Free Access: All eligible owners receive both new Ascension Skills for free at Grade 0 at season launch.
- Skill Progression: Each skill can be upgraded independently from Grade 0 to Grade 3 (4 grades total) using Gold and dedicated resources:
- First Skill (Branch II): Upgraded using Ascension Dust
- Second Skill (Branch V): Upgraded using Ascension Shards
- Temporary Access: Players can temporarily use and upgrade these seasonal skills during the season even if they haven’t progressed through the Hero’s Ascension Spire.
Resource Rules & Post-Season Retention
- Seasonal Resource Rules: Ascension Dust and Shards are exclusive to their specific season. They cannot be saved or carried over, and unused amounts will be automatically exchanged when the season ends.
- Saved Progress: All achieved skill grades and partial progress are saved after the season.
- Requirements for Post-Season Skill Access: To keep using the new skills in battle after the season ends, players must fulfill at least ONE of the following:
- Develop the corresponding Ascension Branch (Branch II or V) to the Grade 0 node.
- Purchase the paid Ascension Season Pass.
- Purchase a special seasonal offer.
- Future Skill Upgrades: Seasonal skills will eventually become upgradeable using standard Ascension resources (currently planned to use Eternal Seeds). The exact costs and unlock timing have not yet been finalized.
- Future Heroes: Priority will be given to Heroes currently lacking Ascension Skills, though Heroes with existing Ascension Skills may be considered in the future. Existing Ascension Skills and resources will not be changed or reworked as part of the Ascension Seasons system.

Ascension Seasons: Time for Veteran Heroes to Shine!
Dominion keeps growing with new Heroes, new teams, and new ways to play, but things can be a little trickier for some old favorites. Many have been waiting for new Ascension Skills for years, while others simply haven’t kept up with how much the game has changed around them.
We want to start coming back to these Heroes much more often. Instead of limiting updates to the occasional rework, we want to gradually give them new skills, revisit mechanics that could use some attention, and help familiar faces find their way back into current teams.
That’s exactly why we’re introducing Ascension Seasons. Each season will focus on one Hero and bring them two new Ascension Skills that you’ll be able to try out and develop over 25 days. And if that Hero could use a little more attention overall, we may also update parts of their base kit alongside the new skills.
Astrid and Lucas will be the first to give this new system a try.
The duo will receive two new Ascension Skills and updates to their base abilities, while also joining Adam as part of the new Hunter group. We won’t get into all the details here, though. We’ll have a separate article on exactly what’s changing for Astrid and Lucas and what all of this means for Hunter teams.
So How Does the Season Actually Work?
A lot of it should feel pretty familiar. Each Ascension Season will last 25 days and feature a progression track packed with rewards. There’s no separate game mode to worry about: you’ll earn Season Points by playing Arena and Grand Arena, Guild War, Clash of Worlds, Campaign, and other familiar modes. Bring the season’s Hero along, and you’ll earn even more points.
As you progress through the season, you’ll collect rewards along with two new resources: Ascension Dust and Ascension Shards. These aren’t used to move along the reward track itself. Instead, they go directly toward developing the two new skills. Each skill has its own progression, so if you’ve gathered enough resources for the next upgrade on one, there’s no need to wait for the other.
At the start of the season, everyone who owns the featured Hero will immediately receive both new skills in their initial form. From there, each skill can be developed through several additional stages, becoming stronger along the way and unlocking its most interesting effects closer to maximum progression.
What Happens When the Season Ends?
No, everything doesn’t just disappear. The progress you’ve made on the skills will be saved. The season gives you an early opportunity to try these new abilities and start developing them. Once it ends, the skills will remain available if you’ve developed the corresponding Ascension branches, purchased the Ascension Season Golden Ticket, or picked up one of the seasonal offers. Any unused Ascension Dust and Shards won’t go to waste either and will be automatically exchanged once the season ends.
And most importantly, Astrid and Lucas are only the beginning. We want to use Ascension Seasons to regularly revisit familiar Heroes and give them new abilities. If everything goes according to plan, we’re hoping to feature roughly one new Hero each month.
The first Ascension Season is expected in the first half of September. We’ll have much more to share about Astrid and Lucas, their new skills, and why Hunters might want to start paying a little more attention to one another very soon. 👀
FAQ: Ascension Seasons
Hey everyone! A few days ago we shared news about the upcoming Ascension Seasons system with you, and you had some questions. Lots of questions…
To make things clearer, we’ve gathered quite a few of your questions and answered them all in this article, so dive in!
1. Ascension Seasons and the Existing Ascension System
- Q. How do Ascension Seasons work with the existing Ascension system? Do they replace or change it?
- A. Ascension Seasons expand the existing Ascension system rather than replace it. The current Ascension Spire, Hero Ascension trees, branches, and progression rules remain unchanged.
Each season adds two new Ascension Skills to the featured Hero’s existing tree: the first skill is placed on Branch II and the second on Branch V.
Previously released Ascension Skills, including those belonging to collaboration Heroes, will not be changed or reworked as part of this feature. Players will still be able to unlock and develop them through the existing Ascension system as before.
Star Mana, Eternal Seeds, Ascension Crystals, Insignias, and other existing Ascension resources are not being removed, replaced, or converted. They will retain their current functions, and all the regular Ascension nodes granting stats will keep requiring them.
The new Ascension Dust and Ascension Shards are used specifically for the additional seasonal progression and do not replace the existing resources.
2. Eligibility and Featured Hero Requirements
- Q. Who can participate in an Ascension Season? Do players need to own or use the featured Hero?
- A. Under the current design, players must own the featured Hero, have a Team Level of at least 65, and have Asgard unlocked.
Using the featured Hero in battle is not mandatory, but it increases the number of Season Points earned. Players can still earn points without placing the Hero in their team, although at a lower rate.
3. Unlocking and Permanently Retaining Seasonal Skills
- Q. How are the skills unlocked during the season, and how can players retain access after it ends?
- A. All eligible owners of the featured Hero receive both skills at Grade 0 during the season. Note that even at Grade 0, each skill already grants a powerful effect that becomes stronger with each subsequent Grade. The first skill is connected to Ascension Branch II, while the second is connected to Branch V.
During the season, developing these branches is not required to receive temporary access to the skills. You gain access to the Seasonal Ascension Skills and can upgrade them with Dust and Shards even if you have not progressed through that Hero’s Ascension Spire.
After the season, a skill remains available if at least one of the following independent conditions has been met:- The corresponding Ascension branch has been developed to the point of connection with the Grade 0 Ascension node. The paid Ascension Season Pass has been purchased. An Ascension seasonal offer has been purchased.
Purchasing the paid Season Pass grants permanent access to both skills at their achieved grades, even if the corresponding Ascension branches have not been developed.
4. Partial Skill Progression and Saved Progress
- Q. What happens if a player upgrades only one skill or completes only part of the progression?
- A. The two skills have independent progression. Upgrading one does not affect the other.
All achieved grades and partial progress are saved after the season. If the player has not secured permanent access to a skill, that skill becomes unavailable in battle, but its achieved grade and progress remain visible and are not reset.
During the season, developing these branches is not required to receive temporary access to the skills. You gain access to the Seasonal Ascension Skills and can upgrade them with Dust and Shards even if you have not progressed through that Hero’s Ascension Spire.
5. Skill Grades and Upgrade Costs
- Q. How many grades does each skill have?
- A. Each skill has four grades, from Grade 0 to Grade 3:
- Grade 0: Granted at the beginning of the season for free.Grade 1: Requires 200 units of the corresponding resource.Grade 2: Requires 500 units in total.Grade 3: Requires 1,250 units in total.
Each grade increases the power of the corresponding skill, but the exact gameplay changes depend on the individual skill.
6. Ascension Skill Upgrades and the Season Pass
- Q. How do we unlock and upgrade these Ascension Skills, and how does the Season Pass work?
- A. All eligible owners of the featured Hero receive both skills at Grade 0 for free from the beginning of the season.
All subsequent Grades are unlocked using Ascension Dust and Ascension Shards, which can be obtained from the free and paid tracks of the Season Pass, as well as from special offers.
During the first Ascension Season, players will not be able to gift each other Tickets for the paid Season Pass track.
Similar to other Seasons, if the paid Pass is purchased later during the season, players can collect the paid rewards from the levels they have already completed.
7. Seasonal Resources and Their Availability
- Q. Are Ascension Dust and Shards shared between seasons, or are they tied to a specific season?
- A. Ascension Dust and Shards are seasonal resources tied to the specific Ascension Season in which they are obtained. They cannot be carried over to future seasons or used to upgrade the Ascension Skills of Heroes featured in previous or upcoming seasons.
They are used only for their corresponding seasonal progression and do not replace Star Mana or other existing Ascension resources.
Previous seasonal skills will instead have their own post-season upgrade paths, eventually becoming upgradable with regular Ascension resources. The specific time frame of the unlock is not yet finalized, but the unlock cycle will be at least a few months long.
8. Conversion of Unused Seasonal Resources
- Q. What happens to unused Ascension Dust and Shards after the season?
- A. Ascension Dust and Shards cannot be stored and carried over from one season to another.
Once the season ends, unused resources will be exchanged automatically. We will publish the exact conversion rates and rewards in our Help Center when the season begins.
9. Post-Season Skill Upgrades
- Q. How and when can unfinished skills be upgraded after the season?
- A. All grades and partial progress achieved during the season are saved.
There might be additional offers for upgrading these skills further after the end of the Season, and eventually skills will become available for upgrading with the usual Ascension resources (preliminary, with Eternal Seeds). However, the exact costs and progression unlock timeline have not yet been finalized.
The original Ascension Dust and Shards will not be used for this progression because they are converted after the season.
The Battle Pass, seasonal quests, and Season Point activities end together with the 25-day season and will no longer be available afterward.
10. Season Points and Battle Pass Progression
- Q. How are Season Points earned, and can the main track be completed without spending or participating in every game mode?
- A. The main Battle Pass contains 50 levels and the season lasts 25 days.
Season Points can be earned in:- ArenaGrand ArenaDungeonGuild WarClash of WorldsCampaign
No individual game mode is required. Players can combine different activities based on how they normally play, although completing all 50 levels assumes consistent participation.
Spending is not required to complete the main track. However, players who participate infrequently or earn points at the lowest possible rate may not finish all 50 levels before the season ends.
11. Ascension Season Frequency and Featured Heroes
- Q. How often will Ascension Seasons take place, and how will future Heroes be selected?
- A. The current plan is to run Ascension Seasons approximately once a month, with each season lasting 25 days. The cadence may be adjusted based on results and player feedback.
The Ascension Season is a separate activity. It does not replace the existing Ascension system.
We are not ready to announce a public roadmap or the upcoming featured Heroes yet. For now, we will be working on Heroes that don’t have Ascension Skills, and potentially in the future we’ll look into adding Heroes that already have Ascension Skills.
