Hero Guide
- Water and Lightning mage. Twin brother of Krista and elder brother of Jorgen. In Hero Wars, “the twins” always refers to the Lars–Krista combo.
- Around 2020, Lars was considered the strongest DPS in the game. His overwhelming power led to the creation of Isaac, a hard counter designed specifically to stop him.
- With AoE attacks, debuffs, and self-buffs, Lars has devastating damage potential.

Lars’s Strengths and Team Strategy
- Lars applies Marks of Water with his first skill and detonates them with his third skill, which also grants him a self-buff.
- His first skill pulls all enemies into a swirling vortex. When Krista’s Frozen Needles are active, this forced movement inflicts devastating damage. This synergy forms the signature Twin Combo.
- His third skill normally stuns for four seconds, but with his fourth skill, enemies marked with Water suffer an extended stun of up to 8.5 seconds.
- Patron pets further enhance this stun: Merlin accelerates activation speed (up to 1.5x), while Mara extends stun duration (up to 3x).
- The effects of his fourth skill apply not only to his own Marks of Water but also to those created by Krista or Cascade, amplifying each other’s skills and making these heroes highly compatible.
- As a DPS with Magic Penetration as his primary artifact, Lars excels in magic-based teams. Since Krista and Cascade also rely on Magic Penetration buffs, they naturally pair well with him.
- His DPS depends heavily on Krista, and his solo output is limited. However, thanks to his strong stuns, he can also contribute in control-focused teams. For example, Lars (with Merlin) combined with Arachne (with Mara) can produce frequent stun chains.
- In magic team lineups, the Aurora–Krista core remains strong, with Lars providing explosive follow-up damage. However, he struggles against Lylia and Isaac.
- Against physical teams, he pairs well with Helios, adding Magic Penetration and countermeasures against critical hits.
- Following the 2025 update, Marks of Water are no longer treated as debuffs. This makes it easier for Lars to consistently trigger his self-buffs.
Disadvantages of Lars
- His DPS performance relies heavily on Krista, which restricts his team compositions.
- The Twin Combo depends on passive timing, and misalignment often leads to failure, lowering Lars’s reliability as a DPS.
- Despite being a backline mage, he is fragile and prone to one-shots from heroes like K’arkh. Protection from dodge buffers such as Aurora is often required.
- He is often positioned in the third or fourth slot instead of the fifth, which further exposes his fragility.
- In the past, Lars was so dominant that Isaac was introduced solely to counter him. Against Isaac, even a fully developed Lars has little chance of success.
- As a pure magic hero, Lars cannot defeat Rufus.
- His reliance on stuns makes him ineffective against Horus-supported teams.
- While he can function in control teams, this is more of a secondary role. His true strength lies in Twin-based magic teams, which limits his effectiveness in defensive setups.
- The 2025 update reduced his value in control teams: since Marks of Water are no longer classified as debuffs, they cannot consume Sebastian’s debuff cleansing charges. While this improves his synergy in magic teams, it slightly diminishes his role in stun-focused strategies.
- Ultimately, Lars’s strength depends on the Twin template. Without the right team composition, he is incomplete and difficult to use effectively.
