The Controversy Surrounding Angus’s Mechanical Skin

Until now, the first-place reward for the Tournament of Power event has only been a unique avatar.
However, this time, a brand-new skin for Angus was introduced as the first-place reward. Currently, the only way to obtain this skin is by securing first place in the event.
Following user backlash, the developers announced that this reward structure would be a one-time occurrence and would not be repeated in future events.

This event virtually eliminates the chance of serious players, whose character development is already complete, winning first place.
As it stands, even the game’s top spenders are unable to obtain this power-up, essentially rendering it inaccessible to them.
The lack of a prior announcement about the skin being available in a bundle at the start of the event also fueled the criticism.

Angus’s mechanical skin is not particularly significant and may even have unintended downsides.

It offers the same type of stat boost as existing Champion skins, such as Sylva. Specifically, it increases elemental damage, which only boosts Angus’s damage against water-element Titans. It has no effect on Titans of other elements, making its usefulness very limited.
Additionally, it can unintentionally speed up the activation of Sigurd’s invincibility skill on the enemy team, potentially causing it to trigger earlier than desired. While this impact is relatively minor, it could still result in an unexpected loss depending on battle development.
The drawbacks of Tournament of the Elements (ToE) matchmaking are particularly noticeable—you face tougher matchups in exchange for skins that offer little to no real combat advantage.

Important Note: We’ve heard the feedback from players with maxed-out Titans, and we agree this setup doesn’t feel fair. We’re sorry for the frustration this has caused. Going forward, we will not use new Titan Skins as Tournament of Power rewards again.
For those who are interested, this Angus’ Mechanical Skin will become available for purchase shortly after the Tournament ends. Later this year, there will also be alternative ways to obtain it, including options that don’t require spending.
