Hero Guide
Hero Overview
The following analysis is based on preview information available at the time of Byrna’s release. Actual performance may differ once the hero is fully implemented and tested in gameplay.
Released in 2026, Byrna is a young Orc shaman who summons a bear spirit to the battlefield. While Orc characters traditionally appear as enemy vanguards in Campaign and Great Storm modes, only Jet and Byrna are currently available as playable Orc heroes.
Byrna functions primarily as a healer with sub-tank support capabilities. She specializes in protecting the frontline through a summoned bear spirit while providing consistent Health recovery for the team.

Flavor text
A young she-orc Byrna couldn’t find a place within her tribe. She hates cruelty and would have died for her ideals. But her virtuous nature was noticed by Ursa, the tribe’s guardian spirit. He blessed her, and now Byrna patiently channels his rage into creation and healing while serving in the ranks of the Dominion Guardians to prove that not all orcs crave war.
Strengths and Team Composition Theory
Health Manipulation and Synergy
Byrna’s first skill deals area-of-effect (AoE) damage while restoring Health. A notable feature of this ability is its potential to increase allies’ maximum Health.
- Corvus Synergy: By increasing maximum Health, she may indirectly enhance the damage output of Corvus’s Altar.
- Electra Synergy: The Health increase could improve the effectiveness of Electra’s shield, provided the skill scales with Health.
- Aidan Synergy: There may also be interaction with Aidan’s Health-link mechanic. For example, the combined Health of Corvus and Aidan—which influences Altar damage—could potentially be further amplified by Byrna.
Offensive Support via Magic Penetration
Byrna’s first artifact provides Magic Penetration. Traditionally, magic-oriented teams have relied on Orion or Polaris for this buff. Byrna introduces an additional option for supplying this key stat.
- Multi-Team Modes: This may become especially valuable when constructing multiple magic teams for modes such as Clash of Worlds or Grand Arena.
- Healer Comparison: As of 2026, Byrna appears to be the only healer whose first artifact grants Magic Penetration. This positions her as a strategic alternative to Celeste, whose artifact increases Magic Attack.
Frontline Protection and Scaling
Byrna’s defensive design focuses heavily on sustaining the frontline.
- The Ancestral Bear: Her second skill summons a spirit that reduces damage taken by the tank by 50%. While the spirit has a limit on the total Health it can absorb, tanks with high Armor may be able to maintain this damage reduction for extended periods.
- Anti-Burst Potential: This reduction could serve as a countermeasure against high-damage frontline attackers such as Ishmael or Iris. Since the reduction appears to be a fixed percentage, even a moderately developed Byrna might provide meaningful defensive value.
- Sustained Growth: Her third skill restores Health to the frontline hero, while her fourth skill gradually increases her own Magic Attack. This scaling pattern suggests she is designed for longer, attrition-style battles, similar to the sustained performance patterns seen with Julius.
Synergy with Mushy and Shroom (Ascension Update)

Mushy and Shroom have official synergy, and their Ascension skills were introduced in the same 2026 update as Byrna’s release. This timing may indicate potential interactions between these heroes in future team compositions.
- Mushy and Shroom Synergy: As a magic-based damage dealer that benefits from sustained frontline protection, Mushy and Shroom may work well with Byrna’s defensive bear spirit and Health restoration.
- Magic Penetration Support: Since Mushy and Shroom rely on magic damage, Byrna’s first artifact (Magic Penetration) could improve their offensive output, particularly in extended PvE battles or competitive PvP modes
- Strategic Positioning: The simultaneous update may suggest that Byrna could provide additional survivability for Mushy and Shroom, potentially helping their spores remain active longer in battle.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Narrow Team Compatibility
Because her first artifact provides Magic Penetration, Byrna is primarily optimized for magic-focused compositions.
- Physical Team Priority: Players who mainly develop physical teams may find her development priority relatively low.
- Limited Synergy: Unlike Celeste, Byrna’s buff may offer less value to heroes that do not rely heavily on Magic Penetration, such as Maya, Heidi, or Iris.
- Tank Dependency: Her second skill is designed specifically to support tanks, such as Aurora, Electra, and Astaroth. In tankless compositions—such as those where Krista or Amira act as the frontline—Byrna’s core mechanics may not function at full capacity.
Tactical Vulnerabilities
- Summon Counters: Her second skill summons a spirit entity. If the opposing team includes Lyria, the summon may interact with the Soul Reaper mechanic, potentially reducing Byrna’s effectiveness.
- Backline Exposure: Byrna is primarily focused on protecting the frontline. As a result, heroes that directly target the backline, such as Kayla or Jhu, may act as natural counters. Pairing her with Folio could partially mitigate this weakness.
- Healing Reduction: Her scaling mechanics depend on successful healing. If the opposing team applies healing reduction through heroes such as Biscuit, Celeste, or Jet, her overall effectiveness may decline.
Resource Efficiency
Byrna is a Strength-based healer, which creates a specific stat distribution challenge.
- Dual Investment Requirement: She requires investment in both defensive stats (Strength and Health) and offensive stats (Magic Attack) to perform at full potential.
- Energy Feed Risk: The AoE damage from her first skill may be relatively modest. In some situations, this could unintentionally grant additional energy to the opposing team without dealing significant damage.
Conclusion
In the 2026 meta of Hero Wars, Byrna appears to be a specialized healer designed primarily for tank-centered magic teams.
While Aidan remains a more flexible healer that supports a wide range of team compositions, Byrna offers unique value through her Magic Penetration artifact and frontline damage reduction mechanics. Players who focus mainly on physical compositions or tankless strategies may prioritize other heroes, but she may still be a strong candidate for defensive setups such as Clash of Worlds City Hall teams.

I noticed Mushi and Shroom now have Ascension skills. I think they might have good synergy.
Yes, good catch. I’ve added it to the article.
