Game Mode Guide
- This is one of the game modes in Hero Wars, unlocked at team level 20. You can enter it through the blimp or directly from the daily quests.
- Players can send any five heroes on an expedition for a set period of time and receive materials when they return.
- The expedition map is not new territory; if you look closely, it’s based on the campaign chapter maps.
- This airborne content is designed to enhance hero artifacts, with expeditions offering artifact materials as rewards.
- A QoL (Quality of Life) update in 2024 made it easier to access, now just a few clicks away. It’s a mode where you can take on daily challenges.
Basic Specifications
- Expeditions are unlocked at team level 30, with different requirements for each. The number of available expeditions increases as your team level increases.
- Heroes on an expedition can still participate in other game modes, but cannot be sent on additional expeditions at the same time.
- Only heroes can join expeditions; pets and Titans are excluded.
- Once started, expeditions cannot be reset.
- Starting in 2024, up to 8 expeditions will be available. Those requiring Valkyrie’s Favor can be attempted twice per day, while others are limited to once per day.
- Expedition resets follow the player’s timezone, typically at 5:00 AM if the default timezone has not been changed.
- Participation in expeditions is a quest requirement for some events and seasons.
Billing Specifications
- Some expeditions require a fee to join.
- Although some expeditions are pay-only, similar materials can be obtained in other ways, which will only affect the rate at which you progress.
Rewards and Power Requirements
- The power required for an expedition is based on the five most powerful heroes you have.
- More powerful heroes yield better rewards: low-powered expeditions yield low-ranked artifacts, while high-powered expeditions may yield red, orange, or purple artifacts.
- The chance of receiving red artifacts increases with luck, but is not guaranteed.
- The number of simultaneous expeditions increases rapidly as the power requirement increases, though it may decrease temporarily if you focus on training a smaller selection of Heroes.
- After a certain level of Hero training, it’s possible to run 8 expeditions at once.
Summary of Power Requirements
- Short: 80% of Top5 total
- Medium: 44% – 50% of Top5 total
- Long: 20% of Top5 total
Pros and Cons of Training Strategies
- Training a limited number of Heroes can increase your rewards quickly, but due to power limitations, you can only run one expedition at a time for less than 15 minutes. This strategy requires a maximum of four attempts.
- Training many Heroes allows all expeditions to run simultaneously, but may slow reward growth and training progress.
Types of quests
Short expeditions
- Duration: 5 to 15 minutes.
- A 5-minute expedition requires VIP level 8; once you reach this level, you can play daily without paying.
- Another 5-minute expedition requires ownership and training of Lara Croft, a temporary character (with possible future access adjustments).
- Due to high energy requirements, only one expedition may be available if you have a limited number of trained Heroes.
Medium Expeditions
- Duration: 1.5 to 3 hours.
- 3-hour expeditions require a Valkyrie’s Favor subscription.
- These expeditions can be repeated once completed, so even with advanced training, two 3-hour attempts will be required to complete all expedition content.
Long Expeditions
- Duration: 6 hours.
- Requires the least amount of energy and can be started quickly without much preparation.
Fixed Rewards
- Expeditions requiring Valkyrie’s Favor will give a fixed Chaos score of 1-3.
- Expeditions requiring Lara Croft give a guaranteed 7 red artifacts (subject to slight variation).
- Expeditions requiring VIP level 8 guarantee an Artifact Weapon to the top 5 Powered Heroes who haven’t completed their Artifact Weapons. Although artifact weapons may appear on other expeditions, this selection logic does not apply.
Expedition Content
- The content you receive is random and unique to each player, so what you see may be different from others.
- Some expeditions contain red artifacts, but not consistently. Whether or not red artifacts appear is largely a matter of luck.
