The Totem Fusion Skill System
Totem Fusion introduces a new skill system, divided into three distinct categories:
- Basic Elemental Skill – A fixed skill unique to each elemental totem
- Elemental Skill – Choose one of six active skills per totem
- Primordial Skill – Choose one of five passive skills per totem
Each of these skills can be upgraded to level 5, and each upgrade path is independent of the others.
How Totem Fusion Could Change Hero Wars
- The introduction of new totem skills is expected to shake up Titan team compositions significantly.
- With three skills per totem, building double-totem setups will require strategic prioritization of six separate upgrades.
- While meta builds are likely to emerge, manual play will remain important, giving players room for creativity and personalized strategies.
- This update may not match the diversity of hero battles, but its impact could rival the introduction of Dark and Light elements.
- For many players, especially long-time veterans, Totem Fusion could reinvigorate Titan battles, which have felt static for some time.
- Although the new system may feel overwhelming at first, it promises a long-term challenge that helps keep the gameplay engaging.
Totem Fusion as a New Upgrade System
- Although each skill caps at level 5, you’ll need materials from dismantled totems and Dominion Gifts to perform upgrades. Thanks to recent improvements in totem acquisition, this could become a strong new form of endgame content. Since the enhancement system appears to involve gacha mechanics, players can likely expect a certain degree of randomness and compromise, much like they did with Patterns.
- Skills can be reset, with invested resources refunded — so stockpiling materials now is a smart move.
- Veteran paying players with excess totems and Dominion Gifts will finally have something meaningful to invest in again, after months of passively watching the Tournament of Power.
- While recent changes like Super Titan x5 and easier totem unlocks have made Titan content more accessible for free-to-play (F2P) players, Totem Fusion might widen the gap once again.
- The Titan meta may shift, but Super Titans will likely remain central. Don’t worry — the meta will take time to settle. Focus on collecting upgrade materials and hold off on investing in non-Super Titans for now.

Preparation Tips
- Begin stockpiling Totems and Dominion Gifts now, as these resources will be consumed in the new system.
- The update may discourage emerald-to-totem conversions. While outright removal would likely upset players, increasing totem value will naturally make emeralds more valuable.
- Even if the 200K emerald conversion option remains, emerald value is expected to rise. Manage your resources with that in mind.

Are There Other Possible Updates for 2025?
- Hero battles haven’t received any meaningful progression updates in over two years. Although Conquest Areas and League Arena were introduced, neither added true progression mechanics.
- Pet updates have also paused, possibly indicating a larger system overhaul is in the works.
- Many players feel that hero progression has hit a plateau. Lyria’s release briefly renewed interest in hero-building, but even that will eventually run its course.
- If 2025 comes and goes without any new progression updates for heroes, it would mark three consecutive years without major additions — an unprecedented stretch in Hero Wars history.
- That’s why it’s quite possible we’ll see even more new additions to hero battles in 2025.

“In Development: Totem Fusion!”
Greetings, Guardians! We’re excited to share the details of the upcoming update that will shake up Titan battles in Dominion – Totem Fusion!
Totem Fusion will unlock fresh possibilities, offering new tactical depth to make Titan battles more epic than ever before! After all, winning isn’t just about a Titan’s raw power, but about assembling the right team!
With this update, every Totem will be able to hold THREE skills:
- Basic Elemental Skill – the default skill your Totem already has.
- Elemental Skill – an active skill that will allow the Totem to affect Titans during battle, affecting the course of the fight! For instance, you can add a skill to your Fire Totem that allows it to freeze (stun) enemies and deal increased damage.
- Primordial Skill – a passive skill that will affect only allied Titans and create powerful synergies between them, helping you tailor your Totem to different combat scenarios! Running a Water Titan team? Add a skill to your Totem that will boost your Titans’ attack power whenever they receive healing!
These new skills and elemental combinations are designed to add more tactical variety to the familiar elemental circle, which has felt too rigid for creative team-building. With Totem Fusion, you’ll unlock fresh synergies and dynamic new strategies that breathe new life into Titan battles, making them more engaging!
How will Totem Fusion work?
- With Totem Fusion, you’ll be able to choose from 6 Elemental skills and 5 Primordial skills, each upgradable to Level 5 for even greater power and effectiveness.
- You’ll choose the skill you want to add to your Totem and increase your chances of unlocking it by using Catalysts – special resources that improve the odds of getting the desired skill. The more Catalysts you invest, the better your chances of getting a higher-level skill.
- And don’t worry if things don’t go your way – you’ll get some Catalysts back if luck isn’t on your side!
Catalysts will be obtainable in several ways, including by dismantling Totem Fragments or Dominion Gifts you already have, making it easier to upgrade your Totems.
Totem Fusion will not only refresh the familiar mechanics but also allow you to create truly unique Titan combinations. Even your benched Titans will be able to shine in unique and unexpected ways!
Totem Fusion FAQ (Update added on June 12, 2025)
Hello everyone! After the announcement of Totem Fusion, you asked a lot of questions. Today, in this FAQ, we’ll answer the most frequently asked ones. But that’s not all! We will have more details about Totem Fusion mechanics and new Totem skills coming with another article next week! Stay tuned!
- Q: Will we still be able to gift Totems from our inventory to others, or will there be changes to that?
- A: Yes, the Totem gifting feature will remain as it is for now. If you have your Totems maxed out, you will be able to give away Totem fragments to other players whose Totems are not fully evolved.
- Q: Will the Totem exchange for 200,000 Emeralds remain with the addition of Totem Fusion, or do you plan to change it?
- A: The Totem exchange for emeralds will be disabled once the feature goes live. We’ll announce the exact timeline in advance so players can decide whether to exchange beforehand. When the mechanic goes live, you will be able to exchange it for a certain number of Catalysts instead.
- Q: Will players with 30 totems be able to obtain catalysts as a grand prize in the Altar of the Elements?
- A: Currently, there are plans to expand the guaranteed drop system further by increasing the number of possible guaranteed drops from the mechanic. For players who have obtained 30 or more totem fragments, the mechanic will start dropping Catalysts.
- Q: Will there be any bad luck protection for upgrading totems with catalysts?
- A: At the time of the feature’s release, Bad Luck Protection will be implemented as a partial refund of spent resources in case of an unsuccessful craft. It was stated already in the first article on Totem Fusion and we will expand on that a little bit in a next article
- Q: Will there be any events or game modes that yield catalysts in the future?
- A: The developers do not plan to make Totem Fragments and Gifts of Dominions the only source of Catalysts. There are plans to introduce other ways to obtain Catalysts without sacrificing progress toward upgrading totems star levels.
- Q: Will we be able to equip and unequip Elemental and Primordial Skills, or will the choice be final? Will the unequip cost be as high as with Patterns?
- A: Patterns have no direct synergy with the Battle Flag power level, whereas Totem skills do. That’s why they shouldn’t be compared. You won’t be able to extract skills from totems, but you will be able to overwrite them. The good news is that once you reach skill level 5, it will be relatively easy to overwrite the skill, since the chances of getting a high-level skill, and specifically the desired one at level 5, will be quite high.
- Q: Do you think it’s a good idea to introduce such a big change while League Arena is being tested? Wouldn’t it be better to focus on polishing one new feature before adding another?
- A: The development of the League Arena and Totem Fusion features is handled by two independent teams. The work is being done in parallel and does not affect each other, so they should be treated as two separate processes. Accordingly, each feature also has its own designated testing team.
- Q: Will the release of this feature include corresponding changes to Combat Training as well?
- A: It’s possible that this won’t be added to Combat Training right at the launch of the feature, but will be introduced a bit later, after the initial rollout and adjustments.
