January’s Hero of the Month: Iris
- For nearly two years, Iris was the dominant DPS hero, known for her incredible pure damage output.
- However, recent shifts in the game’s meta have reduced her effectiveness, primarily due to the lack of armor penetration and the rise in popularity of her hard counter, Rufus. Heidi has now taken her place.
- However, changes in the game environment may bring her back into the spotlight in the future.

Winterfest reward handling
- Q. I found no official information how server reset reimbursements were supposed to work, but here are my observations and assumptions.
CMs can you please confirm or deny?
And please tell us if the reimbursements are supposed to be finsihed or if some individual reimbursements are still in the pipeline? If so please be fast with it.
– 20k xmas coins (with the tree on it) on both accounts who have spent before reset.
– more baubles with an account where more guildmates have donated within the first hours before the reset but which also initially had a good tree state 2023, less for the other account which exists since april 2024.
– assumption: reimbursements seem to be the same for the whole guild. so your promise of individual reimbursements are not addressed (yet? or do think you are done?).
– didnt observe any changes to individual generosity and popularity, but who knows.
– also some people never received donated gifts. these are still missing in your reimbursements.
– on one account i got 25 winterfest coins (the ones which you get from the map) which i seem to have used before the reset to buy skin(s).
– assumption: can it be that reimbursements included last year’s guild tree state? then by trying to fix one bug and injustice during reimbursement you may have invented another bug and injustice . Some guilds got millions of baubles. - A. The initial issue was: the Winterfest Tree level and Winterfest ranking did not reset from the previous year at the start of the event.
Because of that, some players started with a high-level Winterfest Tree, but that was not only not fair, but also lead to other issues: these players could not get any Presents from the Winterfest Tree and could not effectively spend their Baubles, giving/receiving Presents was not properly affecting Rankings and that prevented them from completing some of quests.
That was clearly a big issue, and the most clear and quick way to fix that issue for everyone was to basically restart the event – properly reset Winterfest Tree and Ranking, and then compensate everything players have spent or could have lost in that time.
So we did that, and that unlocked the normal functioning of Winterfest Tree for all players: once again everyone could properly decorate it, get Levels and Level Presents for it.
After that we’ve compensated everything that was lost in a several separate operations: we’ve calculated the number of sent out and received Gifts by each player and added the appropriate number of Generosity and Popularity points – and 20k Winterfest Coins on top of it. Note: it was possible not to get this one, if you have not sent or received Presents before the reset.
We also made sure to return all the unopened Presents from other players, they ended up in Received tab as sent by Wendy.
The Winterfest Tree reimbursement with Baubles: here we took into consideration the numbers of Baubles spent into the Tree by the whole Guild before the reset, and we share that amount between each and every Guildmate as that was much quicker than other methods. Everyone in a Guild is incentivized to invest Baubles into Tree anyway, so we figured the end result should not change.
Previous year Winterfest Tree Level also had impact on that calculation, as at the start the most affected by this change were the ones who had their last year Winterfest Trees – they could not do anything and they had a possibility of further issues with Rankings after the reset, and we also figured that in previous years we’ve had numerous times when players got their Baubles deleted if they did not spend them in time. So partial compensation based on the last year results retroactively covered this popular issue too.
By the way, this year we are not going to have that same issue – all the unspent Baubles and Winterfest coins will be exchanged at the end of the event. We will share details on that in coming publications.
For now we’ve finished with the general reimbursements, but we are aware of the rare specific cases – someone not getting what they should or receiving something else. We are actively looking into those issues and will investigate them on case by case scenario!

AoC Ranking Rewards
- Q. This may have been mentioned before, but here’s a suggestion for the rewards in “Area of Conquest”.
Not everyone in the guild wants the same pattern.
I’d like the color of the pattern to be determined by ranking, and for players to be able to choose the type of pattern.
I think it’ll be a bit more exciting that way. - A. Hey! Thanks for the suggestion, I agree that current system when you might purposefully go for the second place instead of first one (for example) is a bit weird. Will share with the team
